Hold a meeting with the leadership team of your startup. Use this guide to assign roles within your team to ensure someone is accountable for every major function of your business.

Step 1: List business functions.

Use the column labelled Business Function to outline all business functions in which you deem necessary to have a leader of *Example list added

Step 2: Nominate Leaders

Read out a business function. Anyone in the team can nominate themselves or nominate someone else for the role. Once nominated ask the nominee if they:

• Get what the role involves
• Wants to do the role
• Have the capacity to do the role

Also ask the rest of the team, if they believe the nominated person gets it, wants it and has the capacity to do it.

Notes:

• One person can be the head of multiple functions.
• One function can only have one leader.
